    Gold Wings are just awesome! Smooth, quiet, powerful, and practical. I bought a 2009 Honda Shadow Aero this past December as my first bike and started riding in February. I turned it into a mini tourer almost immediately with bags and a trunk. It has been a great little starter motorcycle! Sounds great (Cobra pipes), rides pretty well, and has been extremely reliable thus far. My folks and I made a trip out west (trailered the motorcycles) a couple weeks ago and we rode around Rushmore, Yellowstone, and the Grand Tetons. It was a fantastic experience! It also showed me that I "need" a bigger bike haha. I think the Shadow is a great hot rod, but when riding for hours on end, I want to be lazy. The Gold Wing fits the bill. Now, off I go to make $36K haha. On a side note, how long have you been flying? In the video you mentioned you were a CFI. Piqued my curiosity as I am currently working on my Commercial Rating.

      I did the same thing with my first bike- a Vulcan S. Turned it into a little mini touring bike. Then realized I needed an actual touring bike 😂 I have a lot of reviews of touring bikes on my channel from Indian and Harley for comparison as well. Personally I like Indian, but the Honda gold wing is just about as perfect as you can get in a touring bike. Been teaching for almost 4 years now. Was a shrink before 😂 needed a career change. I love teaching. Still get to work with people 1 on 1 and help them overcome challenges, but the office view is way better 😎

    How's the 117 vs the Indian's 116? Would you still choose the Chieftain over this?

    • @MOTOBLADE
      @MOTOBLADE День тому

      That’s a pretty tough call. I would probably take the Indian because I love Indians design and history, but this new Street Glide (and the new Road Glide) with the 117 and the new screen makes it a really, really tight call. If I won the lottery tomorrow I would take the new Road Glide and Indian Challenger. Those would be my ultimate 2 bikes. Previous years I would’ve taken the Chieftain, no contest. Now I have to think about it, so Harley has stepped up their game!

    Hey man! Great vid. I started riding last summer (have a Honda xr150l) and am looking to get a bigger bike. Have been looking at the scouts and heard a ton about them and done a ton of research. This new lineup looks incredible. Im 6'2 so am a little concerned about comfortability with my back. Will be going to test drive them soon, but any suggestions, tips, or thoughts as im looking for my first "bigger" bike?

    • @MOTOBLADE
      @MOTOBLADE 5 днів тому

      Remember that sitting upright and getting bars higher will straighten your back and make you feel way better. If a bike is good, seat, peg, and bar position are an easy cheap fix to fit it to yourself. So focus on the bike features - what you like and what you don’t, and remember you can change the “rider triangle” if necessary. One other thing - I love the look of the 101, but the sport has a more upright position if that helps. Other thing to not with a bigger bike - use caution if you put it in sport mode. It hauls butt 😎 have fun and ride safe brother ✌🏻

    • @BigAlMicrowave
      @BigAlMicrowave 5 днів тому

      @MOTOBLADE Thanks man. My friend has the Sport Scout so I'll def take a look at that and see if it's more comfortable. I also LOVE the look of the 101, but at the end of the day, if I'm uncomfortable it's less safe. I'll try them all out and see how it goes. Wish you the best bro! Thanks for the tips.

    The bike is beautiful, from all the reviews I've seen the performance is also excellent, but two things I would like to see on the Scout 101, a bigger tank (4 gallons maybe) and the option of matte black paint.

    • @MOTOBLADE
      @MOTOBLADE 5 днів тому

      A matte black design would be cool - and you make an interesting point with the tank. I could not find a MPG claim on Indians website for the bike. So I don’t know if it’s ‘super’ fuel efficient or if it would greatly benefit from the larger tank or not. Would be nice to have some claimed range or mpg numbers for a bike when they release it 🤷🏼‍♂️

    I test rode one of these today. Never considered one but since I’m replacing a Goldwing I thought I would look at this. It’s so good. Not as much power as the new Goldwing but it does have more character than the new Goldwing. The Goldwing sounds like a Prius.

    • @MOTOBLADE

      In the Indian Scout lineup, that would be the new Scout 101. Same engine as the other 2025 scouts, but they tuned it up to crank out more HP and Torque. Full video review of it on my channel here: ua-cam.com/video/bymEhPXHo3A/v-deo.htmlsi=Y9pZTPBsJUHEw2JR As far as the touring lineup, the Challenger puts down the power because of the liquid cooled power plus engine.

    What is the audio like?...Can you hear the radio on highway speeds?..

    • @MOTOBLADE
      @MOTOBLADE 6 днів тому

      Audio quality is good, not quite as loud or as good as an Indian with powerband audio, but better than the stock, non-upgraded Harley’s. Hopefully that comparison helps a bit. The crucial part here is the wind noise of the bike. The audio may not be as insanely loud as other models, but because the gold wing protects you so well from wind on the highway, the audio doesn’t have to compete against the wind noise. Once that windshield is up it goes quiet. No need to compensate with a massive stereo when you can just eliminate so much wind noise. Different way of coming at the situation.

    I'm confused. You don't think this helmet is worth it in the review, but then the description says you use this "AWESOME helmet" as part of your gear and includes a link to purchase it. On top of that, you've got a few pictures of you wearing an ILM helmet (maybe not the 953 modular). Did something change for you that I'm missing? Legitimate question. I'm doing research on helmets with integrated BT speaker/comm systems and this was on my radar.

    • @MOTOBLADE
      @MOTOBLADE 7 днів тому

      Your confusion with the “awesome” designator in the description is accurate. I recently had a technical guru do some SEO and description work on my videos. I am still double checking his work. Lots of videos to go through. I have changed the wording to the description in that area. Thank you for letting me know! The other videos of me in this helmet were prior to this, and my very early videos on my channel featured me in another ILM helmet (my first helmet I bought when I started riding). I include the link in case people do wish to purchase the helmet. Many have chosen to do so, even though this is not a helmet I would recommend personally, as stated in the video. People still like the affordability so I provide the links and they are free to make their choice. This video was posted 2 years ago. In the time since then I use an ECE22.06 approved very safe helmet that I also have a full review on my channel for. It’s a Ruroc Atlas 4.0. It was pricey but I wanted something safe and their safety and comfort information is why I decided to try them. I’ve enjoyed it quite a bit. Hopefully I never have to test the safety features of it first hand. Back to this helmet in this video - I would not recommend it. I would recommend something with an ece22.06 rating or snell rating. Hope that helps.

    • @MOTOBLADE
      @MOTOBLADE 7 днів тому

      Ah I missed your comment about the Bluetooth comms. The Ruroc atlas 4.0 has its own built in wiring and spot in the back for their speaker system. It does cost extra but then there’s nothing hanging on the side of the helmet. Cardo talk packs also offer good audio quality for other helmets that you can install yourself.

      @@MOTOBLADE I appreciate the quick reply on such an old video. Thanks for the clarification and reassurance that I'm not losing my mind. Funny you should mention the atlas 4.0. I was just looking at it and the EOX. How does their sound system compare to some of the other brands like Sena, Cardo, and Freecom? Would you say pretty comparable? Is there a brand or specific device that stands out to you as having the best quality for both music and voice? The more speaker systems I use, the more I get the feeling motorcycle sound quality just isn't the greatest. I'm still not the most educated on the matter, though.

      @@xMaticusfinchx Cardo is the best audio in my opinion (they have JBL speakers in some models which provides nice sound). Ruroc's built in system is second and Sena a close third. I have nothing to back that statement up, other than personal opinion on what I thought sounded best to me. I have never tried Freecom sets so I can't comment on those. For audio now, I always use the sound system built into my Indian. I only use the headset when I'm on the little Harley with no speakers (and it's so loud I need earplugs anyway 🤣).

      @@MOTOBLADE My '19 was smooth as silk, but I have not ridden a new one yet to compare. I did re-initialize the DCT (or whatever they called it) a few times a year - always after an oil and filters change, and then additionally. Easy to do and it definitely made a difference. Oh and the heat - I noticed the same with mine - seat and grips never seemed to get very warm - just OK. My HD grips are hot on only setting #2 out of 5...

    I love my 2018 Ann with the stage 2, Not really for speed. More for comfort for the long hauls of 7 hours or more. Certainly, has a lot of storage, i use the RikRack. I find each person uses their own technique how to ride and handle the Trike, it is larger and safer on the roads. other drivers do take notice. No good in rainy wet weather, water gets caught up in the rear wheels, therefore affects the braking not as responsive in wet weather and takes a bit to slow it down.

      Interesting perspective on the braking. I had not thought about that. I always assumed a trike would be safer in the rain. Probably still is as far as stability is concerned vs a motorcycle, but I had not thought about the braking. Traction control help/make any noticeable difference?

      @MOTOBLADE 10 днів тому

      Indian has significantly improved the ergonomics on the 2025 scout lineup. But even the earlier scouts are easy to fix for making your back feel better. Taller bars and a seat with a backrest generally fix the problem immediately 99% of the time. What I did to my Harley sportster. If it helps, I have a whole video on my channel detailing exactly how to fix the ‘rider triangle’ and make your bike more comfortable to alleviate back strain, butt pain, and wrist pressure.
